    Special event station GR100MGY

Special event station GR100MGY to be operated by members of the  Wey Valley Amateur Radio Group. The team will be active from Godalming, England fro April 10th to April 15th  commemorating the 100th anniversary of the sinking of RMS Titanic.

The activity will honour the memory of the ship's chief wireless operator, Jack Phillips, born and bred in Godalming, whose Morse distress messages led to the saving of hundreds of lives.

The callsign's suffix letters MGY were the Titanic's radio callsign back in 1912, while the prefix stands for Godalming Remembers. Two 400-watt stations will be on the air on 80-10 metres CW; SSB will be used on 14 and 15 April, when the station is open to the public (from noon to 4pm). QSLling instructions at www.gr100mgy.org.uk
